Our history

The council was formed in 1974 by the merger of Aldershot Borough Council and Farnborough Urban District Council and covers Aldershot, Farnborough, North Camp and Cove.

The name Rushmoor come from the area of ancient heathland to the west of the borough, which once covered the entire area between Farnham and the edge of London.
