I went to college to study a Level 3 IT course and then went to university to study Computer Science. During my time at university, I worked at Curry's PC World in the TV department, which involved a great deal of customer interaction. Afterward, I decided to take a different direction and applied for a customer service role with Rushmoor. I also speak Nepali and the Rushmoor area has a large Nepali community, and this was a requirement of the role.
I mostly work in reception from 9am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, during the reception opening hours. Everyday is a new day in Customer Services but I often assist with things such as sorting council tax accounts, housing benefits, and 'Love Rushmoor' emails about community concerns like fly-tipping or vandalism, which I forward to the appropriate departments or external organisations if it is outside of Rushmoor's scope. I also manage post distribution, handle calls or voicemails on the Nepali phone line, when it's busy and act as the first point of contact for interviewees, notifying the relevant departments of their arrival. As a qualified first aider, I'm also available to assist with any incidents in reception.
I work in a supportive team, where every day brings new challenges that add variety to my role. I find great satisfaction in helping customers resolve their issues, and as a Nepali speaker, I help Nepali visitors feel more welcomed and comfortable, knowing they can communicate easily and be understood.
