After school I went to Farnborough 6th form college and gained A-Levels in Psychology, Business and PE. I didn't have plans to go to uni and always thought I would dive straight into full-time work. I began by doing some admin work for my parent's business and this included doing the payroll. Luckily, a friend at the council sent me a link to apply for this role, which I did! I had to complete a short assessment as a part of the application process. I was then interviewed and offered the role shortly after!
There are plenty of different things that have to be completed as a part of my role alongside other members of the team that are essential for the council. The monthly payroll has to be completed to ensure staff are paid correctly and on time, and reports and documents from the payroll have to be gathered, sorted, and sent to finance. On a quarterly basis, I report on the protected characteristics of Rushmoor staff and sometimes create infographics to help display these findings. I've also had the chance to be involved in a few projects across the council for my apprenticeship.
The best thing about my role is the people I work with on a day-to-day basis. My team is very people-orientated, so everyone is very kind, considerate and always has time for you, but this is also the same feeling I get when interacting with others across the whole council. The flexibility of being able to work from home and in the office is great and I have been given the opportunity to develop my career in an apprenticeship with constant support from the council.
